American Covidiot EP (2020)

Recorded March-November, 2020 in my basement, late at night. There are two f*ck words in this album, on tracks 2 and 3, so try to yawn or talk over the music when you hear cuss words coming up. All other lyrics to be interpreted literally and figuratively. Writing and recording took a lot of energy and time, a little bit of money, and a fantastic group of dear friends, alphabetically:

  • Geoff Green improvised solid bass guitar on every track.

  • Claudio Rivera played the impeccable drums on “Obvious” (track 3…one of the f*ck word songs again) in his sleep.

  • Jon San Paolo mixed the whole thing and taught me how to record warehouse-quality music from the isolation of the basement.

  • Nicholas W. Skyles created the artwork and this website.

  • Nathan Wall added flavorful guitar on every track, and mixed “Wheeze” to capture the imagined sounds and feelings of a virus—literal or figurative—terrorizing its host.

  • Katherine Wallig breathed life into the closing track “Covidiot” on the flute, and supports my ambitions as a partner, best friend, and co-parent. #swoon

  • Logan Williams (Faatherton, More of That) contributed the signature MOrawk sound.

More Gratitude: Soren and Margot inspire me to be my best self. Mom and Tabitha see and hear me. Christie, Tony, and my new friends at ACSAS helped keep me accountable in finishing the album. Peter Hoeft made me laugh. Aaron Scott has always believed in me. Seth C., Seth G., Kalim, Jojo Nanez, Nathan M., Ellie G. Ellie S., Megan K., Jack, Kennard, Eric, Clint, Philip Dickey, and at least three Wills all gave their time and feedback on demo after countless demo.

xoxo,
